Chiropractic - Conditions Treated

Chiropractic care is effective in headache management because it corrects imbalances in the neck and spine, which are often the cause of headaches.   Because headaches are so common, some people think that getting a headache is just a normal part of life!  Headaches are a sign that something’s wrong.  Stress, toxic fumes, certain foods, preservatives, and alcohol are common culprits.

A frequent and overlooked cause of headaches is the malfunction of spinal bones in the neck and upper back.   When bones of the spine lose their normal position or motion, sensitive nerves and blood vessels to the head can be affected.  When spinal nerves and related tissues are stretched or irritated, they can produce throbbing headaches.  Aspirin and medications may cover up these warning signs, but do not correct the underlying structural cause.

Many people experience correction and relief through chiropractic care.

With improved structure and function, neck pain often diminishes or totally disappears – without addictive drugs or harmful side effects.

A popular response to neck pain is taking drugs to cover up the problem (aspirin, analgesics, pain pills) or treating its symptoms (muscle relaxers, massage, hot packs).  But neck pain isn’t caused by a lack of aspirin or drugs!

The chiropractic approach to neck pain is to locate its underlying cause.  This begins with a complete case history and thorough examination.  Special attention is given to the structure and function of the spine, and its effect on the nervous system.

A common cause of patients symptoms are a result of work-related injuries, leading to a loss of work and untold suffering every day.

Since spinal discs have a very poor blood supply, they also depend upon the circulation of joint fluids to bring in nutrients and expel waste.  If a spinal joint loses its normal motion and their pumping action is impaired, the health of the disc deteriorates.  Like a wet sponge, a healthy disc is flexible.  A dry sponge is hard, stiff, and can crack easily.  This is how many disc problems begin.

While results cannot be guaranteed, many patients have avoided needless surgery or a dependency on pain pills by choosing conservative chiropractic care.

Many types of uncorrected stress to the spine can add to the relentless degenerative process known as arthritis.  Arthritis mans inflammation of the joint and can affect a person at any age.  Treatment is adapted to suit the age, build, pain levels, and general health of the individual.  Once the body is aligned to move with fewer restrictions, the need for pain relieving medications lessens, or disappears altogether.

Chiropractic care has been helping families for years, regardless of your age, size, or condition.  Doctors of chiropractic modify their techniques and methods to suit children of all ages.  Studies have shown that chiropractic can help up to 94% of children with colic, and can also be beneficial for digestive problems, ear, nose and throat infections and sleeping difficulties.  Having your baby checked by a Chiropractor, as soon after birth as possible, gives them a great start to a happy and healthy life.

The stresses of sport and daily life can affect the spine, whether you are a super athlete or a weekend warrior.      Collisions that occur during sporting events, slips, falls or automobile crashes can all have a damaging effect on your neck and back.  These types of collision-related injuries are often called a “whiplash”.   The resulting instability of the spine and soft tissues can contribute to headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, pain in the shoulders, arms and hands, reduced ability to turn and bend, and low back problems.   As the body attempts to adapt, symptoms may not appear until weeks or even months later.

There is probably no activity more closely associated with the need for chiropractic care than sports.

Ouch! 9 myths about low back pain

Lower back pain can often be traced to the spine.  The posture, motions, and traumas of everyday living can result in pain and less function.

Low back pain results in millions of dollars of lost work and untold suffering every day.  The chiropractic approach is to help restore a more normal motion and position of affected spinal bones with specific chiropractic adjustments.  The simplicity and success of this approach has been documented in numerous research projects and has helped many patients avoid risky surgery.

A common cause of sciatica is a bulging disc that puts pressure on nearby nerves.  Chiropractors are uniquely skilled to evaluate and reduce the most common cause of sciatic nerve pain.

Sciatica can be a distracting pain that starts in the lower back and extends down into one or both legs.   Chiropractic care has proven to be quite helpful.  Improving joint motion with a series of chiropractic adjustments has produced results for millions.  Many reporting they’ve resumed their lives and that their symptoms disappeared without drugs or surgery.
